Academic Policy

You acknowledge and agree you have read the academic policy prior to enrolment.

1. Tutorials

1;1 Private Tutorials are dependent on Educator availability which changes on a term-by-term basis depending on the time of year. All Private Tutorials must be booked online through the private online booking website a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Tutorials are designed to assist and support students outside of the classroom on subjects they are enrolled in at Marquis Education only and that these tutorials are not directed learning. It is the responsibility of the student to bring their own questions to the tutorial. Marquis will provide additional support material directly related to and based on our Course Programs Content.


Educators may change at any time during the term due to availability, and depending on text specific and school specific needs.


2. Attendance And Homework Submission

You acknowledge that to achieve progress and the best results from Marquis Educations course programs, you are required to attend class every week and submit homework as required. If a student fails to attend one or more classes during the Service Period, neither credit nor refunds will be provided by Marquis Education in accordance with our enrolment Terms and Conditions. 

Students are required to complete and submit all homework weekly. Homework submission will be monitored by Marquis Education Educators and the Marquis Education Student Experience Team. If students do not submit homework for more than 1 consecutive weeks, parents will be contacted to discuss.


All online or in-centre classes are expected to complete and submit assigned weekly homework from our Theory Workbooks and present it in the following manner:


  • Maths

~ All Maths homework tasks must be handwritten (unless specified otherwise) on A4 lined/grid paper, as this well help aid students in writing line by line mathematical working out and problem solving that is expected during exam conditions.

~ For online students, scan and submit on Google Classroom in ‘WX H/W Submission’.

~For in-centre students, all sheets must be stapled together when handing in person.

~ The following details must be clearly written at the top of each homework task: full name in top right-hand corner, question number and task detail on the top left side. 

~ If homework is not presented in the above manner, then it will not be marked.



  • English:

~ Students are required to submit their handwritten or typed homework on Google Classroom in ‘WX H/W Submission’

  • Students must present the teacher with copies (electronic or otherwise) of all assessments and/or evaluation tasks, as well as feedback from their school teacher/s. This will enable their Marquis Educator to address all areas of concern, and comparatively focus on improving the student’s rank and academic proficiency.


3. Make-Up Classes

We offer make-up classes or a copy of the recording of the class within a week of the missed class time. In the event that a student cannot make their regular class time they need to notify the Student Experience Team as soon as they know they cannot attend so that they can advise the Educator otherwise we will be calling you to find out why you are not in class. It is the responsibility of the student to access our online resources and request a video recording of the class and the class notes from a Student Experience Administrator in the centre or online for any class missed. Please note that if prior notice is not provided for a request to record a lesson, the lesson will be permanently deleted from our system and will no longer be accessible after 7 days. It is the client's responsibility to request the recording ahead of time to ensure its preservation. Marquis Education holds no responsibility for the loss of access to lessons in such cases.

LESSON ATTENDANCE AND MAKE-UP CLASSES

1. Attendance Obligation:

It is incumbent upon the student of Marquis Education ("Student") to ensure their consistent presence at designated lessons. The duty of attendance is strictly imposed on the Student.

2. Notification of Absence:

Should a student of Marquis Education ("Student") be incapable of attending their scheduled lesson, it is imperative that such Student notifies a member of the Student Experience team. For contact methods and details, refer to the "Contact Us'' section.

3. Rescheduling Provisions:

In instances of notified absences, the affected Student will be accommodated in an alternative lesson, correlating to their academic year and subject matter, within the same instructional week (beginning on the Saturday at Marquis Education).

4. Online Lesson Recordings:

Under no circumstances shall online lesson recordings be provided or be deemed an acceptable alternative to the missed in-person instructional sessions. 

Online lesson recordings are only available to students who regularly attend that scheduled lesson as per their timetabling agreement with Marquis Education.


4. INFORMATION REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF YOUR ENROLMENT: Marquis Education requires you to provide us with your school’s topics/texts for the year. We also require you to fill out parental/guardian, school, residential address and grade details. Also, to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, please inform us of any medical concerns at the time of enrolment. This allows us to make necessary accommodations and provide appropriate support.


5. Acceleration

You acknowledge and agree that students wishing to accelerate into a higher stream for a subject are required to sit a diagnostic exam which will be assessed at the sole discretion of Marquis Education.

Students may also be required to provide evidence of their acceleration at school in that subject.

If approved to accelerate into a higher year level for a selected subject, you will be charged the difference in price between the year level you originally enrolled in and the higher year level. This price will be calculated on a pro rata basis from the week you accelerate. The pricing is specified in the Enrolment and Pricing information provided on our website.

Plagiarism Policy

Marquis’ Plagiarism policy is in place to:

To ensure that all homework is in no way falsified or copied from another source. 

To undertake homework tasks and research responsibly and with honesty and integrity. 

To acknowledge appropriately the work of others, when required


What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is taking and using another person's ideas and or manner of expressing them and to pass them off as your own by failing to give appropriate acknowledgment. This includes material sourced from the internet, staff, other students, and from published and unpublished works.

Plagiarism occurs when you fail to acknowledge that the ideas or work of others are being used, which includes:


  • paraphrasing and presenting work or ideas without a reference
  • copying work either in whole or in part
  • presenting writing or images as your own work
  • using phrases and passages verbatim without quotation or referencing the author or web page
  • reproducing other people’s work without proper acknowledgement.


If a student is caught plagiarising, then the penalties applied will depend on the seriousness of the offence and whether the student has been counselled before. These may include:


  • The work not being assessed
  • Call to the parent/guardian
  • And if this issue is prolonged, then exclusion from the academy


Digital & Online Policy

All Marquis Students agree to set up a personal user account for Google Classroom using a Marquis email address.

All students must acknowledge and adhere to the following guidelines:


  1. Google Classroom Usage: Google Classroom is strictly intended for discussion and communication related to Marquis Education. It should not be used for any discussions unrelated to Marquis Education or any other purposes outside of the scope of our educational programs.
  2. Copyright Respect: Students are required to respect the copyright of all online learning resources and materials provided by Marquis Education. Unauthorised distribution, reproduction, or sharing of these resources is strictly prohibited.


NO EMAIL POLICY – no email correspondence with an Educator is to occur. If a student needs help before an assessment, then they can bring in their work to discuss with the Educator within class time or post it as a question in Google Classroom.


Student code of conduct:

Marquis always strives best to fulfil the needs and expectations of the students vice versa every single pupil must adhere to the following code of conduct at all times:

  • Dress appropriately to each lesson (both online and in-centre)

  • Model and follow Marquis's class codes of behaviour and conduct
  • Negotiate and resolve conflict with empathy

  • Avoid dangerous behaviour and encourage others to avoid dangerous behaviour


Engagement


  • Attend every lesson (or arrange for make-up lesson) and arrive to class on time 
  • Be prepared for every lesson
  • Actively participate in learning
  • Aspire and strive to achieve the highest standards of learning

Furthermore, the purpose of tutoring at Marquis Education is as follows:


  • The priority of each child's enrolment and attendance in our Yearly Course & Holiday Programs is to learn one term ahead and stay ahead of their peers, significantly improve their literacy and numeracy skills to achieve an advanced level, & receive weekly personalised school assessment assistance so they can score the highest ranks at their school and eventually the HSC
  • NOT to socialise and act inappropriately
  • Clients are paying for their children to lean and not waste their time and abuse their learning opportunity
  • Students need to channel their energy into the content


Our Academic Teams are constantly working hard to create a safe and nurturing learning environment that's conducive to the most erudite, progressive and transformative student experience for each and every one of our students at Marquis and the above is essential to enable this. 


Each student agrees not to conduct themselves in an antisocial or disruptive manner towards other students or staff of Marquis Education. We have a zero-tolerance stance in response to behaviour that is detrimental to self or others or to the achievement of high-quality teaching and learning. Any student who engages in disruptive or inappropriate behaviour will receive 3 warnings per term. After the third warning, the student may be asked to leave the class. Marquis Education reserves the right to suspend, disenroll or cancel a student’s enrolment if the inappropriate behaviour persists. This is to ensure the safety of other students and our staff whilst on our premises and learning online.  If a student is suspended, disenrolled or we cancel their enrolment at Marquis, then we will not refund for lessons that they are not permitted to attend for the rest of that term. Pricing for all course programs is non-negotiable and non-refundable


Resource Policy:

Marquis Education Resources policy outlines the terms, conditions and procedures, related to the issue, replacement and possession of Marquis Academic Resources. 

Marquis Academic Resources refer to any printed and online course materials copyrighted to Marquis education made available to Marquis education students and includes and is not limited to theory books, workbooks, quizzes, and topic tests, short course notes, revision booklets, and online materials on Marquis Education Google Classroom.

Theory and work books

Rules


  1. As part of their enrolment in a course at Marquis Education, all students will receive a comprehensive package consisting of a theory book and a workbook. The theory book contains the complete lesson content for the course, providing essential information and materials. The workbook is designed to accompany the lessons, containing weekly homework assignments to reinforce learning and track progress
  2. As part of the enrolment process at Marquis Education, students will receive workbooks for their courses ahead of the term start. It is the student's responsibility to bring the workbook to each lesson throughout the term. In the event of a lost or damaged workbook requiring a replacement or rewriting, Marquis Education reserves the right to charge an additional fee at its discretion.


WORKBOOK RESOURCE POLICY

1. Purpose and Scope: 

This Workbook Resource Policy sets forth the terms, conditions, and protocols governing the issuance, replacement, and collection of instructional workbooks by Marquis Education.

2. Issuance of Workbooks:

a. Every student registered with the Company for a term shall receive a designated Workbook containing the instructional content for Weeks 1 through 10, inclusive of homework assignments for the said weeks, at the commencement of each respective term.

b. On weeks designated for examinations, including but not limited to midterms and finals, students shall be furnished with a distinct examination booklet.

3. Workbook Usage and Requirements:

a. Students shall present their respective Workbooks at each lesson they attend under the auspices of the Company.

b. Should a student fail to present their Workbook, a fee of $100.00 ("Replacement Fee") shall be levied for the provision of a new workbook.

c. In the event of the loss of a Workbook, a student may solicit a replacement, subject to the payment of the Replacement Fee.

4. Prohibitions and Restrictions:

a. Workbooks from preceding terms are non-purchasable.

b. Students engaged in the Company's online courses are prohibited from receiving electronic copies of Workbooks. Such students are obliged to either retrieve the Workbooks in-person from the Bella Vista centre or remit a postal fee to facilitate the delivery of the Workbooks.

c. Workbooks are proprietary to the Company and are reserved exclusively for the educational provision to students duly registered for a course. Under no circumstances shall they be made available for independent purchase.

5. Enforcement: 

Failure to adhere to the terms set out in this Policy may result in additional charges, withholding of Workbooks, or other remedies as deemed appropriate by the Company.

By enrolling in Marquis Education courses, students acknowledge and consent to the terms and conditions encapsulated herein.



Eligibility 

1. Student were enrolled in a course at Marquis will receive the courses theory book and workbook (where applicable) in their first lesson.


2. Students who do not continue with the full-term commitment (until the tenth lesson) as approved by Marquis Education management as per the Disenrollment policy, must return their terms resources for the course within the time period said by Marquis Education management in order for their dis-enrolment to be processed and finalised. 


3. The refund for midterm disenrollment is subject to the discretion of Marquis Education, based on the specific situation. If approved by Marquis Education management, the student will be eligible for a pro-rata refund of the remaining lessons. The refund will be calculated based on the date and time the resources are returned in person to a Marquis Education campus service desk. It is important to note that this refund is not guaranteed and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.


4. If a student loses a Marquis resource during the course of the term, they may request replacement of resources. A fee will apply as outlined in the Appendix.


5. Students are not eligible to be issued or purchase past and present term’s Marquis resources.


6. Marquis resources are exclusive to Marquis students who are enrolled in the course and are not available for purchase of separately.


7. Students may keep any theory books and workbooks for each term they have completed for the full-term commitment. See below under the Intellectual Property section in the Resource policy for more information on what constitutes permissible use of Marquis Academic resources. 


Marquis learning management system (LMS) online resources

A student who has enrolled for a term course will receive an invitation to join the course online on the Marquis LMS. A student will continue to have access on their online resources for the courses they have undertaken at Marquis education until the end of the academic year at Marquis.



  • For term courses, the academic year will end on the final day of Marquis term 4 of the academic year in September.
  • For UCAT courses, this will fall on the date of the UCAT examination for the year.


If a student enrols in a Marquis course as an accelerated student, they will not continue to have the access to the LMS resources after the end of they can make your day where in enrolled in.


Notice and Notice Period

a) Trial Lesson Enrolment - We provide an opportunity for students to participate in a paid trial lesson without any obligatory commitment. This trial lesson consists of a single session for which a trial fee is charged. In the event that the student decides not to continue with the course after completing the trial lesson and receiving a full week of support services, the trial contract will be considered invalid. Consequently, the client will not be subjected to any locked-in obligation or further financial responsibility. Please note that regardless of the circumstances, no refund will be issued for the trial lesson fee. Additionally, it is necessary for the student to return any Marquis Theory Workbooks that were provided to them before cancelling the contract.


b) Termly Payment Subscription DD Option - This is a Term Course paid in advance in 4 equal instalments throughout the school year before the term commences. You will be liable for your first instalment upfront, and then termly thereafter. If you enrol after Week 1 of a term, your upfront first instalment will be manually prorated. You will be liable for a minimum of 10 weeks per term thereafter your first Instalment payment. 


c) Holiday Programs - The Service Period for each School Holiday or Special Program differs. You will be liable for the full duration of the program as outlined in the schedule for your selected Course Program in the Enrolment and Pricing Guide. School Holiday Program dates and course lengths vary depending on the time of year. Refunds will not be provided for no-shows. A minimum 48 hours’ notice must be given to cancel a Holiday Program enrolment as we offer small class sizes. It is difficult for us to replace this seat at the last minute. 


d) Marking Written Feedback and Review - Marquis Educations offers three pricing tiers for essay marking services, delivering comprehensive feedback and review for English Students. All Marking Services require payment upfront via Marquis Education's website. Feedback will be supplied within the selected specified timeframe.


e) Private 1:1 Tutorials - Marquis Education offers Private 1:1 Tutorials to Marquis Students enrolled in the Yearly Success Programs only. Private Tutorials are booked in advance online via our student booking portal with payments required upfront at the time of the booking. We offer 60-minute tutorial times. Cancellation policies are clearly stated at the time of booking. Payment is due and payable upfront to secure session time. Cancellations must be made 48 hours prior to session time to receive a full refund to allow another student to book this time. 


f) You understand if you choose to cancel your enrolment before your Completion Date which is the end of the term, you must notify us in writing at least 14 days prior to the next term. This means, you must notify us on or before 8pm Monday of Week 9 if you wish to cancel your enrolment with us. Students and parents must provide two clear weeks’ notice if the student wishes to discontinue tuition. Unless we receive notification for termination of a Termly enrolment, the student will automatically be enrolled for the following Term course and will be charged the full fee as we reserve a seat in the class for the student in advance and cannot fill this seat without adequate notice.
